Java By Drew Estate Toro

I am what you would consider a mellow person. I am laid back and observant. In the Summer of 2004, I decided to take a trip to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic at  The Sun Village Resort & Bungalows. While I was there multiple merchants arrived on a Friday afternoon. One of the merchants had boxes of cigars. I was always intrigued by the essence of cigars from the time I saw George Burns, an Actor, Comedian, Writer from the 1930's on television and movies. The one brand of cigars that stood out to me were Cohibas. After bargaining for several minutes I had my first purchase of cigars. Later that evening, I engaged my self with a glass of Bourbon whiskey and a single Cohibas Cigar. The taste of the cigar, I would describe as smooth yet mild. The effect it had on my taste buds was momentous. The taste of the Bourbon whiskey seemed to be enhances making a perfect combination, my taste buds were heightened. Most recently, I attended a Highland Cigar Co. in Atlanta, Georgia. The ambiance set the stage for a very friendly atmosphere. I was surrounded by cozy leather sofas and HDTV's; their menu was light and tasty. As I entered the high-quality humidor I my final selection was the Java By Drew Estate Toro cigars are best described by famous-smoke.com who describes them to be "a unique, flavored cigar creation handmade with Nicaraguan fillers and a dark chocolate-colored Brazilian wrapper. These super-sized cigars have a rich, smooth tobacco taste that overflows with sweet, creamy coffee-mocha flavor and aroma."  This cigar is refreshing and the after taste is very faint to none. I highly recommend this flavored cigar.

Shoestring HDTV

It is funny because to have a High Definition image you don't need a HDTV or HD Projector. Keep in mind that you have seen higher resolution before the mass marketing of HDTV's, 720i, 720p, 1080i, and 1080p. Do you remember resolutions of 800x600, 1024x768, or even 1920x1200? Yes your computer monitors, which now have higher resolutions than 1080p. This is one reason why I only buy Samsung LCD Televisions, because if you remember all the PC monitors were predominantly re-packaged Samsung Monitors. Your HDTV are nothing but over-sized LCD computer monitors with controlled resolution. With that in mind, you hav always had High Definition. As you remember I built my man cave with quality movie room equipment. Due to job opportunities I had to relocate and it would have been expensive to ship all my equipment. So I decided to grab my PC laptop, my Apple Power Mac G5, and my Infocus X2 Presentation Projector. I left behind a 42" Samsung 1080p HDTV, Samsung Blu-Ray player, Denon Receiver,  Harman Kardon 7.1 Surround Sound Speaker, and had DirecTV installed. (Image Above via: flickr)

Dual DVI

Here is where the shoestring budget comes into play. Even though, I didn't have to buy anything for my shoestring budget, my new entertainment system consist of only 3 components; a computer, a projector, and computer speakers. Two of the items most people have anyway. Each component is equally important brain, visual, and sound. From my Mac Pro G5, I connect my Infocus X2 Projector via DVI cable (cable ends can be seen above) which was supplied with the projector. And like movie magic, I was watching movies on 1024x768 resolution. My sound was coming from JBL Computer Speakers (you wouldn't believe the sound and bass). Now you will need a plain wall, preferably white to project you image. The projector was 10.5 feet away, which produced a 72" movie screen.m Let's just say you don't have a computer ypou can always attach your game system and purchase a cable converter (i.e. HDMI to DVI).

Also, you can use the same set-up to play your favorite songs with a visualizer while entertaining. The key is to have your computer as the entertainment brain, because it can output the higher resolution. If you tried to have a regular DVD player or any other regular video source than HR (high resolution), your visual resolution will not increase simple with a computer projector. I currently recommend the InFocus X6 DLP Projector for starters.

Note: The images above are not images from my actual ShoeString 72" HDTV. The image provided is for visualization purposes only.

The Lutron Maestro IR Dimmer w/Remote can be listed in many categories under Art & Decor or Technology. I decided to give a more personal response to this item. It takes a little knowledge of knowing how to install a basic electrical switch circuit (I do recommended hiring a licensed professional electrician) to install these light dimmers. This item is not only ideal, but a great conversation piece. When I had my man-cave built this was one of the items that brought everything together and was glad to buy them for all of my light switches. At first glance you would think that a lot of wiring and special skills were needed to make these light dimmers work, they fit and work with your current electrical circuitry. Each unit comes ready to install with face plate, switch, and remote. Keep in mind that one remote will work for all switches so you can store away the multiple remotes. Definitely if you have a theater room this should be your light control of choice, because it work with any IR Remote system. Lutron Maestro IR Dimmer w/Remote is simple and sleek.
